Opening on the iconic Avenue Montaigne in 1913, the Plaza Athénée rapidly became one of the hottest addresses in Paris, one where the art circles would regularly dine and meet for drinks, and soon the rest of the Parisian haute société followed suit. And it even became an object of fascination for one of the most revered names in fashion, Chrisitian Dior, who would set up his atelier just next to the hotel.
Built on the strong relationship between the hotel and Chrisitian Dior, as well as the fashion world of Paris, The Plaza Athénée decided to adopt the haute couture concept as the theme of its renovation in 2013, under the Dorchester Collection banner.
In this new episode of Deep Dive, Grand Luxury met with the likes of Soizic Pfaff, Director of Dior Heritage, Francois Delahay, General Manager, and the designer duo Claire Bétaille and Bruno Moinard to discover all the thought-process and work that went into giving the Plaza Athénée its unique Haute Couture look and making it “the palace of tomorrow…”
